In early 2025 I was housesitting in Seelands, up in northern NSW near Grafton. There was quite the crew to care for — three horses, two dogs, two cats, a rabbit, some chickens, a house rooster, and a group of local king parrots who would fly onto the balcony for sunflower seeds.

While I was there, I went to see a local kinesiologist (I need balancing regularly too 😉). During one of the balances, feathers came up. I was asked to pick one from a small collection one that resonated with me. I was drawn to a green feather, it was just calling me. Jacinta, the kinesiologist, told me it was a king parrot feather from one of the birds that often visited her. We both laughed at the synchronicity of me choosing that one, since I had been feeding king parrots at the house.

When I got back that afternoon, I was outside with the animals when the parrots arrived. Usually there were three or four, but this time at least seven appeared, flying around and tucking into the seed I’d put out. I laughed again another little sync. I asked them for a feather and within minutes one landed on the balcony. It looked so similar to the one I had chosen in the session.

It was one of those moments where everything feels aligned. You feel content, part of something bigger, woven into the web of life. It reminded me to trust that things unfold how they are meant to, even if it’s not always in the way we expect.

Later I looked up the spiritual meaning of the king parrot. They’re said to represent new directions, fresh adventures, and the brightness and colour of life. With their ability to see beyond the visible spectrum, they symbolise growth and breaking barriers. That felt right to me. The feather wasn’t just a nice coincidence it was a reminder to keep stepping into new possibilities and to trust the path opening up in front of me.
